Barangay Lalakhan

Barangay Lalakhan is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Santa Maria, located in the province of Bulacan, in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Lalakhan had a population of 2,319. This made it the 23rd largest of 24 barangays in Santa Maria by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Lalakhan accounted for approximately 0.80% of the total population of Santa Maria, which stood at 289,820 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Lalakhan changed from 2,337 to 2,319, a shift of -0.8% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with broadly stable populations in Santa Maria. Barangay Lalakhan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Santa Maria is a municipality comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Lalakhan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Bulacan, which contains 569 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Lalakhan ranks 450th by 2020 population.
