Barangay Tangaoan

Situated in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Barangay Tangaoan is one of 33 barangays that make up the municipality within Ilocos Region.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Tangaoan had a population of 1,207. This made it the 8th largest of 33 barangays in Santa Maria by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tangaoan accounted for approximately 4.02% of the total population of Santa Maria, which stood at 30,006 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Tangaoan changed from 1,203 to 1,207, a shift of +0.3% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with slowly expanding populations in Santa Maria. Barangay Tangaoan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
