Barangay Portabaga

Barangay Portabaga is a very small barangay in the municipality of Santa Praxedes, located in the province of Cagayan, in the Cagayan Valley region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Portabaga had a population of 265. This made it the 6th largest of 10 barangays in Santa Praxedes by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Portabaga accounted for approximately 5.98% of the total population of Santa Praxedes, which stood at 4,434 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 264 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 265 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +0.4%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. Barangay Portabaga is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Santa Praxedes is a municipality comprising 10 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Portabaga, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
