Barangay Tapao

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Tapao is one of the administrative divisions of Sinait in Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Tapao had a population of 761. This made it the 10th largest of 44 barangays in Sinait by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tapao accounted for approximately 2.93% of the total population of Sinait, which stood at 25,998 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Tapao moving from 736 residents to 761 residents, an intercensal change of +3.4%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Tapao is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Sinait is a municipality comprising 44 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Tapao, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
