Barangay Calagbangan

Situated in Sipocot, Camarines Sur, Barangay Calagbangan is one of 46 barangays that make up the municipality within Bicol Region.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Calagbangan had a population of 3,869. This made it the 2nd largest of 46 barangays in Sipocot by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Calagbangan accounted for approximately 5.68% of the total population of Sipocot, which stood at 68,169 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 3,563 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 3,869 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +8.6%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Calagbangan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Sipocot is a municipality comprising 46 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Calagbangan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Camarines Sur, which contains 1,063 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Calagbangan ranks 100th by 2020 population. Barangay Calagbangan is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
