Barangay New Oroquieta

Situated in Tabina, Zamboanga Del Sur, Barangay New Oroquieta is one of 15 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay New Oroquieta had a population of 725. This made it the 14th largest of 15 barangays in Tabina by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay New Oroquieta accounted for approximately 2.82% of the total population of Tabina, which stood at 25,734 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 718 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 725 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +1.0%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay New Oroquieta as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Tabina is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay New Oroquieta, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Zamboanga Del Sur, which contains 779 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay New Oroquieta ranks 496th by 2020 population.
