Barangay Malaguicay

Situated in Tanauan, Leyte, Barangay Malaguicay is one of 54 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Malaguicay had a population of 1,193. This made it the 12th largest of 54 barangays in Tanauan by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Malaguicay accounted for approximately 2.08% of the total population of Tanauan, which stood at 57,455 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Malaguicay moving from 1,145 residents to 1,193 residents, an intercensal change of +4.2%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Malaguicay is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
