Barangay Sugod

Situated in Tarangnan, Samar, Barangay Sugod is one of 41 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Sugod had a population of 882. This made it the 11th largest of 41 barangays in Tarangnan by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Sugod accounted for approximately 3.43% of the total population of Tarangnan, which stood at 25,713 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 834 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 882 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +5.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Sugod is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Tarangnan is a municipality comprising 41 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Sugod, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
