Barangay Mapulo

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Mapulo is one of the administrative divisions of Taysan in Batangas, CALABARZON, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Mapulo had a population of 3,404. This made it the 2nd largest of 20 barangays in Taysan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Mapulo accounted for approximately 8.48% of the total population of Taysan, which stood at 40,146 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 3,084 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 3,404 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +10.4%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Mapulo is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Taysan is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Mapulo, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Batangas, which contains 1,078 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Mapulo ranks 238th by 2020 population. Batangas is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
