Barangay Achila

Situated in Ubay, Bohol, Barangay Achila is one of 44 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Achila had a population of 1,746. This made it the 21st largest of 44 barangays in Ubay by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Achila accounted for approximately 2.13% of the total population of Ubay, which stood at 81,799 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Achila changed from 1,429 to 1,746, a shift of +22.2% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Ubay. Barangay Achila is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Ubay is a municipality comprising 44 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Achila, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Bohol, which contains 1,109 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Achila ranks 202nd by 2020 population.
