Barangay Batuan

Barangay Batuan is a small barangay in the municipality of Valladolid, located in the province of Negros Occidental, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Batuan had a population of 1,076. This made it the 15th largest of 16 barangays in Valladolid by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Batuan accounted for approximately 2.69% of the total population of Valladolid, which stood at 39,996 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Batuan changed from 969 to 1,076, a shift of +11.0% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Valladolid. Barangay Batuan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Valladolid is a municipality comprising 16 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Batuan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Occidental, which contains 662 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Batuan ranks 547th by 2020 population.
