Barangay Poblacion Sur

Situated in Villaba, Leyte, Barangay Poblacion Sur is one of 35 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion Sur had a population of 1,218. This made it the 16th largest of 35 barangays in Villaba by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion Sur accounted for approximately 2.84% of the total population of Villaba, which stood at 42,859 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Poblacion Sur changed from 1,368 to 1,218, a shift of -11.0% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Villaba. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion Sur as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
