Situated in Vincenzo a. Sagun, Zamboanga Del Sur, Barangay Bui-os is one of 14 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Bui-os had a population of 1,479. This made it the 8th largest of 14 barangays in Vincenzo a. Sagun by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bui-os accounted for approximately 5.95% of the total population of Vincenzo a. Sagun, which stood at 24,852 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,438 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,479 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +2.9%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Bui-os as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
