Situated in Vinzons, Camarines Norte, Barangay Calangcawan Sur is one of 19 barangays that make up the municipality within Bicol Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Calangcawan Sur had a population of 5,436. This made it the 1st largest of 19 barangays in Vinzons by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Calangcawan Sur accounted for approximately 11.08% of the total population of Vinzons, which stood at 49,042 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 4,882 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 5,436 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +11.3%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Calangcawan Sur as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.
