Barangay Baras

Barangay Baras is a small barangay in the municipality of Baco, located in the province of Oriental Mindoro, in the MIMAROPA Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Baras had a population of 1,563. This made it the 13th largest of 27 barangays in Baco by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Baras accounted for approximately 3.93% of the total population of Baco, which stood at 39,817 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Baras moving from 1,626 residents to 1,563 residents, an intercensal change of -3.9%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Baras as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
