Barangay Botong

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Botong is one of the administrative divisions of Badiangan in Iloilo, Western Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Botong had a population of 1,405. This made it the 4th largest of 31 barangays in Badiangan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Botong accounted for approximately 5.19% of the total population of Badiangan, which stood at 27,056 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Botong moving from 1,461 residents to 1,405 residents, an intercensal change of -3.8%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Botong is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Badiangan is a municipality comprising 31 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Botong, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
