Barangay Baao

Situated in Baleno, Masbate, Barangay Baao is one of 24 barangays that make up the municipality within Bicol Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Baao had a population of 528. This made it the 21st largest of 24 barangays in Baleno by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Baao accounted for approximately 1.83% of the total population of Baleno, which stood at 28,855 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Baao moving from 557 residents to 528 residents, an intercensal change of -5.2%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Baao as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Baleno is a municipality comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Baao, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Masbate, which contains 550 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Baao ranks 511th by 2020 population.
