Situated in Ballesteros, Cagayan, Barangay Cabaritan West is one of 19 barangays that make up the municipality within Cagayan Valley.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Cabaritan West had a population of 2,954. This made it the 3rd largest of 19 barangays in Ballesteros by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cabaritan West accounted for approximately 8.57% of the total population of Ballesteros, which stood at 34,488 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Cabaritan West changed from 2,844 to 2,954, a shift of +3.9% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Ballesteros. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Cabaritan West as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
