Barangay Banban

Barangay Banban is a small barangay in the municipality of Bangui, located in the province of Ilocos Norte, in the Ilocos Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Banban had a population of 777. This made it the 8th largest of 14 barangays in Bangui by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Banban accounted for approximately 5.17% of the total population of Bangui, which stood at 15,019 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Banban moving from 740 residents to 777 residents, an intercensal change of +5.0%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Banban is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Bangui is a municipality comprising 14 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Banban, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
