Barangay Lagang

Situated in Banton, Romblon, Barangay Lagang is one of 17 barangays that make up the municipality within MIMAROPA Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Lagang had a population of 101. This made it the 16th largest of 17 barangays in Banton by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Lagang accounted for approximately 1.76% of the total population of Banton, which stood at 5,737 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Lagang moving from 65 residents to 101 residents, an intercensal change of +55.4%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Lagang as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Banton is a municipality comprising 17 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Lagang, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Romblon, which contains 219 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Lagang ranks 218th by 2020 population.
