Barangay Sibay

Barangay Sibay is a very small barangay in the municipality of Banton, located in the province of Romblon, in the MIMAROPA Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Sibay had a population of 335. This made it the 8th largest of 17 barangays in Banton by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Sibay accounted for approximately 5.84% of the total population of Banton, which stood at 5,737 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Sibay moving from 367 residents to 335 residents, an intercensal change of -8.7%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Sibay is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Banton is a municipality comprising 17 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Sibay, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
