Barangay Bahuyan

Situated in Barbaza, Antique, Barangay Bahuyan is one of 39 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bahuyan had a population of 862. This made it the 10th largest of 39 barangays in Barbaza by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bahuyan accounted for approximately 3.69% of the total population of Barbaza, which stood at 23,359 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Bahuyan changed from 773 to 862, a shift of +11.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Barbaza. Barangay Bahuyan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Barbaza is a municipality comprising 39 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bahuyan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Antique, which contains 590 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Bahuyan ranks 258th by 2020 population.
