Barangay Gunting

Barangay Gunting is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Barili, located in the province of Cebu, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Gunting had a population of 3,216. This made it the 3rd largest of 42 barangays in Barili by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Gunting accounted for approximately 3.98% of the total population of Barili, which stood at 80,715 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Gunting moving from 2,861 residents to 3,216 residents, an intercensal change of +12.4%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Gunting as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Barili is a municipality comprising 42 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Gunting, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cebu, which contains 1,203 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Gunting ranks 308th by 2020 population.
