Barangay Datu Panas

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Datu Panas is one of the administrative divisions of Buug in Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga Peninsula, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Datu Panas had a population of 2,247. This made it the 4th largest of 27 barangays in Buug by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Datu Panas accounted for approximately 5.85% of the total population of Buug, which stood at 38,425 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Datu Panas moving from 1,994 residents to 2,247 residents, an intercensal change of +12.7%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Datu Panas as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Buug is a municipality comprising 27 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Datu Panas, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
