Barangay Southwestern Poblacion

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Southwestern Poblacion is one of the administrative divisions of Calamba in Misamis Occidental, Northern Mindanao, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Southwestern Poblacion had a population of 2,381. This made it the 2nd largest of 19 barangays in Calamba by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Southwestern Poblacion accounted for approximately 10.25% of the total population of Calamba, which stood at 23,227 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,546 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,381 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -6.5%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Southwestern Poblacion as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Calamba is a municipality comprising 19 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Southwestern Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Misamis Occidental, which contains 490 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Southwestern Poblacion ranks 52nd by 2020 population. Barangay Southwestern Poblacion is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
