Situated in Calauan, Laguna, Barangay Santo Tomas is one of 17 barangays that make up the municipality within CALABARZON.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Santo Tomas had a population of 12,986. This made it the 2nd largest of 17 barangays in Calauan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Santo Tomas accounted for approximately 14.81% of the total population of Calauan, which stood at 87,693 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Santo Tomas changed from 11,826 to 12,986, a shift of +9.8% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Calauan. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Santo Tomas as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Calauan is a municipality comprising 17 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Santo Tomas, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
