Barangay Silangan (Pob.)

Barangay Silangan (Pob.) is a small barangay in the municipality of Calauan, located in the province of Laguna, in the CALABARZON region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Silangan (Pob.) had a population of 1,662. This made it the 15th largest of 17 barangays in Calauan by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Silangan (Pob.) accounted for approximately 1.90% of the total population of Calauan, which stood at 87,693 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Silangan (Pob.) moving from 1,908 residents to 1,662 residents, an intercensal change of -12.9%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Silangan (Pob.) as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Calauan is a municipality comprising 17 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Silangan (Pob.), including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
