Barangay 5 Poblacion

Barangay 5 Poblacion is a very small barangay in the municipality of Can-Avid, located in the province of Eastern Samar, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay 5 Poblacion had a population of 335. This made it the 23rd largest of 28 barangays in Can-Avid by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay 5 Poblacion accounted for approximately 1.55% of the total population of Can-Avid, which stood at 21,682 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 399 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 335 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -16.0%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay 5 Poblacion is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Can-Avid is a municipality comprising 28 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay 5 Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Eastern Samar, which contains 597 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay 5 Poblacion ranks 473rd by 2020 population.
