Barangay 8 Poblacion

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay 8 Poblacion is one of the administrative divisions of Can-Avid in Eastern Samar, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay 8 Poblacion had a population of 916. This made it the 9th largest of 28 barangays in Can-Avid by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay 8 Poblacion accounted for approximately 4.22% of the total population of Can-Avid, which stood at 21,682 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 416 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 916 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +120.2%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay 8 Poblacion is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Can-Avid is a municipality comprising 28 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay 8 Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Eastern Samar, which contains 597 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay 8 Poblacion ranks 175th by 2020 population.
