Barangay Guindapunan East

Barangay Guindapunan East forms part of Carigara, a municipality in Leyte, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Guindapunan East had a population of 1,066. This made it the 21st largest of 49 barangays in Carigara by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Guindapunan East accounted for approximately 1.95% of the total population of Carigara, which stood at 54,656 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,219 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,066 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -12.6%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Guindapunan East is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Carigara is a municipality comprising 49 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Guindapunan East, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Leyte, which contains 1,641 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Guindapunan East ranks 577th by 2020 population.
