Barangay Tangnan

Barangay Tangnan is a small barangay in the municipality of Carigara, located in the province of Leyte, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Tangnan had a population of 836. This made it the 31st largest of 49 barangays in Carigara by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tangnan accounted for approximately 1.53% of the total population of Carigara, which stood at 54,656 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Tangnan moving from 793 residents to 836 residents, an intercensal change of +5.4%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Tangnan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Carigara is a municipality comprising 49 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Tangnan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
