Barangay Tigbao

Situated in Carigara, Leyte, Barangay Tigbao is one of 49 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Tigbao had a population of 584. This made it the 40th largest of 49 barangays in Carigara by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tigbao accounted for approximately 1.07% of the total population of Carigara, which stood at 54,656 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Tigbao moving from 605 residents to 584 residents, an intercensal change of -3.5%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Tigbao as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Carigara is a municipality comprising 49 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Tigbao, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
