Barangay Cacaransan

Situated in City of Calbayog, Samar, Barangay Cacaransan is one of 157 barangays that make up the city within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Cacaransan had a population of 794. This made it the 67th largest of 157 barangays in City of Calbayog by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Cacaransan accounted for approximately 0.42% of the total population of City of Calbayog, which stood at 186,960 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 704 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 794 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +12.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Cacaransan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Calbayog is a city comprising 157 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cacaransan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Samar, which contains 951 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Cacaransan ranks 317th by 2020 population.
