Barangay Cagsalaosao forms part of City of Calbayog, a city in Samar, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Cagsalaosao had a population of 1,841. This made it the 34th largest of 157 barangays in City of Calbayog by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Cagsalaosao accounted for approximately 0.98% of the total population of City of Calbayog, which stood at 186,960 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Cagsalaosao changed from 1,576 to 1,841, a shift of +16.8% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in City of Calbayog. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Cagsalaosao as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
