Barangay Catabunan

Barangay Catabunan is a very small barangay in the city of City of Calbayog, located in the province of Samar, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Catabunan had a population of 274. This made it the 132nd largest of 157 barangays in City of Calbayog by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Catabunan accounted for approximately 0.15% of the total population of City of Calbayog, which stood at 186,960 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Catabunan moving from 261 residents to 274 residents, an intercensal change of +5.0%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Catabunan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Calbayog is a city comprising 157 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Catabunan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
