Barangay Saljag

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Saljag is one of the administrative divisions of City of Calbayog in Samar, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Saljag had a population of 727. This made it the 75th largest of 157 barangays in City of Calbayog by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Saljag accounted for approximately 0.39% of the total population of City of Calbayog, which stood at 186,960 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Saljag changed from 617 to 727, a shift of +17.8% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in City of Calbayog. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Saljag as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Calbayog is a city comprising 157 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Saljag, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Samar, which contains 951 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Saljag ranks 353rd by 2020 population.
