Barangay San Joaquin

Classified as a large barangay, Barangay San Joaquin is one of the administrative divisions of City of Calbayog in Samar, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay San Joaquin had a population of 5,969. This made it the 3rd largest of 157 barangays in City of Calbayog by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay San Joaquin accounted for approximately 3.19% of the total population of City of Calbayog, which stood at 186,960 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay San Joaquin changed from 5,901 to 5,969, a shift of +1.2% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with slowly expanding populations in City of Calbayog. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay San Joaquin as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Calbayog is a city comprising 157 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Joaquin, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Samar, which contains 951 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay San Joaquin ranks 5th by 2020 population.
