Barangay Cagnituan

Barangay Cagnituan is a very small barangay in the City of Maasin, located in the province of Southern Leyte, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Cagnituan had a population of 356. This made it the 67th largest of 70 barangays in City of Maasin by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Cagnituan accounted for approximately 0.41% of the total population of City of Maasin, which stood at 87,446 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Cagnituan changed from 330 to 356, a shift of +7.9% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in City of Maasin. Barangay Cagnituan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Maasin is a city comprising 70 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cagnituan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Southern Leyte, which contains 500 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Cagnituan ranks 423rd by 2020 population.
