Barangay Nonok Sur

Situated in City of Maasin, Southern Leyte, Barangay Nonok Sur is one of 70 barangays that make up the city within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Nonok Sur had a population of 678. This made it the 48th largest of 70 barangays in City of Maasin by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Nonok Sur accounted for approximately 0.78% of the total population of City of Maasin, which stood at 87,446 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 698 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 678 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -2.9%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Nonok Sur is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Maasin is a city comprising 70 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Nonok Sur, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
