Barangay San Rafael

Situated in City of Maasin, Southern Leyte, Barangay San Rafael is one of 70 barangays that make up the city within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay San Rafael had a population of 1,862. This made it the 11th largest of 70 barangays in City of Maasin by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay San Rafael accounted for approximately 2.13% of the total population of City of Maasin, which stood at 87,446 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay San Rafael changed from 1,855 to 1,862, a shift of +0.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with slowly expanding populations in City of Maasin. Barangay San Rafael is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Maasin is a city comprising 70 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Rafael, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
