Barangay Sainz

Barangay Sainz is a large barangay in the City of Mati, located in the province of Davao Oriental, in the Davao Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Sainz had a population of 10,377. This made it the 4th largest of 26 barangays in City of Mati by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Sainz accounted for approximately 7.03% of the total population of City of Mati, which stood at 147,547 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Sainz changed from 10,754 to 10,377, a shift of -3.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in City of Mati. Barangay Sainz is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Mati is a city comprising 26 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Sainz, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Davao Oriental, which contains 183 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Sainz ranks 5th by 2020 population. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
