Barangay San Miguel

Classified as a very large barangay, Barangay San Miguel is one of the administrative divisions of City of Tagum in Davao Del Norte, Davao Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay San Miguel had a population of 21,735. This made it the 4th largest of 23 barangays in City of Tagum by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay San Miguel accounted for approximately 7.34% of the total population of City of Tagum, which stood at 296,202 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 17,317 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 21,735 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +25.5%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay San Miguel is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Tagum is a city comprising 23 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Miguel, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Davao Del Norte, which contains 223 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay San Miguel ranks 5th by 2020 population. Davao Del Norte is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
