Barangay Pal-ew

Classified as a large barangay, Barangay Pal-ew is one of the administrative divisions of City of Tanjay in Negros Oriental, Central Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Pal-ew had a population of 5,125. This made it the 4th largest of 24 barangays in City of Tanjay by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Pal-ew accounted for approximately 6.20% of the total population of City of Tanjay, which stood at 82,642 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 4,977 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 5,125 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +3.0%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Pal-ew is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Tanjay is a city comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Pal-ew, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Oriental, which contains 557 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Pal-ew ranks 56th by 2020 population. Barangay Pal-ew is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
