Barangay Poblacion I

Barangay Poblacion I is a small barangay in the City of Tanjay, located in the province of Negros Oriental, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion I had a population of 1,892. This made it the 20th largest of 24 barangays in City of Tanjay by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Poblacion I accounted for approximately 2.29% of the total population of City of Tanjay, which stood at 82,642 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Poblacion I changed from 2,034 to 1,892, a shift of -7.0% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in City of Tanjay. Barangay Poblacion I is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Tanjay is a city comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion I, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Oriental, which contains 557 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion I ranks 289th by 2020 population.
