Barangay Sam-ang

Barangay Sam-ang is a mid-sized barangay in the city of City of Toledo, located in the province of Cebu, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Sam-ang had a population of 2,264. This made it the 30th largest of 38 barangays in City of Toledo by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Sam-ang accounted for approximately 1.09% of the total population of City of Toledo, which stood at 207,314 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Sam-ang moving from 1,719 residents to 2,264 residents, an intercensal change of +31.7%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Sam-ang as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Toledo is a city comprising 38 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Sam-ang, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cebu, which contains 1,203 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Sam-ang ranks 480th by 2020 population. Barangay Sam-ang is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
