Barangay Paratong

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Paratong is one of the administrative divisions of City of Vigan in Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Paratong had a population of 1,372. This made it the 15th largest of 39 barangays in City of Vigan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Paratong accounted for approximately 2.54% of the total population of City of Vigan, which stood at 53,935 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Paratong moving from 1,374 residents to 1,372 residents, an intercensal change of -0.1%. The trajectory indicates a broadly stable community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Paratong as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Vigan is a city comprising 39 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Paratong, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Ilocos Sur, which contains 768 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Paratong ranks 130th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
