Barangay Pong-ol

Barangay Pong-ol is a small barangay in the City of Vigan, located in the province of Ilocos Sur, in the Ilocos Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Pong-ol had a population of 600. This made it the 35th largest of 39 barangays in City of Vigan by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Pong-ol accounted for approximately 1.11% of the total population of City of Vigan, which stood at 53,935 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Pong-ol moving from 548 residents to 600 residents, an intercensal change of +9.5%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Pong-ol is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Vigan is a city comprising 39 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Pong-ol, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
