Barangay Tapilon

Classified as a large barangay, Barangay Tapilon is one of the administrative divisions of Daanbantayan in Cebu, Central Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Tapilon had a population of 8,843. This made it the 2nd largest of 20 barangays in Daanbantayan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tapilon accounted for approximately 9.46% of the total population of Daanbantayan, which stood at 93,502 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 8,323 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 8,843 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +6.2%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Tapilon is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Daanbantayan is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Tapilon, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cebu, which contains 1,203 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Tapilon ranks 68th by 2020 population. Cebu is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay Tapilon is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
