Barangay Babag

Situated in Dagohoy, Bohol, Barangay Babag is one of 15 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Babag had a population of 1,230. This made it the 6th largest of 15 barangays in Dagohoy by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Babag accounted for approximately 6.19% of the total population of Dagohoy, which stood at 19,874 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,278 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,230 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -3.8%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Babag is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Dagohoy is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Babag, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Bohol, which contains 1,109 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Babag ranks 377th by 2020 population. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
