Barangay Sapang Balas

Situated in Dinalupihan, Bataan, Barangay Sapang Balas is one of 46 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Luzon.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Sapang Balas had a population of 1,543. This made it the 28th largest of 46 barangays in Dinalupihan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Sapang Balas accounted for approximately 1.31% of the total population of Dinalupihan, which stood at 118,209 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,271 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,543 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +21.4%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Sapang Balas as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Dinalupihan is a municipality comprising 46 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Sapang Balas, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Bataan, which contains 237 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Sapang Balas ranks 167th by 2020 population.
